How to read football match statistics on a match page

5 min read

You'll learn

  • How to open a match page from Pro Finder
  • Where form, trends, xG and head to head sit on the Overview
  • How to set which matches the Stats tab counts
  • How to read a market tab and the Intelligence report

Every match has its own page, with its statistics in tabs: Overview, Intelligence, Stats and one tab per market. This course follows one upcoming match through them.

Overview and Stats are free. xG vs real goals, changing the Analysis scope, the market tabs and the full Intelligence report are Pro.

The numbers describe matches already played, not the next one. Read each one with the number of matches behind it.

Six steps through a match page

  1. Open a match

Every match in Pro Finder opens its own page. The pictures follow one upcoming match.

Pro Finder on a phone, showing only the matches that have not started
In Pro Finder, tap Scheduled (1) to keep the matches that have not started, then tap a match (2).
The top of a match page: the two teams, the Overview, Intelligence and Stats tabs and the market tabs
The page has three tabs: Overview (1), Intelligence (2) and Stats (3). The row under them (4) has one tab per market: 1x2, Over/Under, BTTS, Handicaps, Corners and Cards.
  2. Read the Overview

Overview opens first. Scroll down for the two teams side by side: their form, how often their matches went over 2.5 goals or had both teams score, and how their goals compare with their chances.

Form & Streaks: the two teams’ Overall, Hype and Long Term Quality shares
Form & Streaks (1) compares the two teams. Overall (2) blends current form (Hype) with Long Term Quality.
Betting Trends: win rate, Over 2.5 and BTTS for both teams, over their last matches and the season
Betting Trends shows each team’s win rate, Over 2.5 and BTTS. All (1) counts every match. By Venue (2) counts only the home team’s home matches and the away team’s away matches.
xG vs real goals for the home team: goals next to xG, goals conceded next to xGA
xG vs real goals (1) is Pro. Choose a team (2) to see its goals next to the chances behind them, xG, and the goals it conceded next to the chances it allowed, xGA (3).
  3. Find the head to head

Recent Matches, on the Overview, lists each team’s latest matches with the odds before kick-off and the result. Head to head has no tab of its own: the two teams’ meetings are at the end of this card.

Head to Head · 365 days at the end of Recent Matches: the two teams’ meetings over the last year
At the top of Recent Matches, switch team to see the other side’s matches. At the end of the card, Head to Head · 365 days (1) counts the two teams’ wins and draws against each other over the last year (2), with each meeting below.
  4. Set the scope on the Stats tab

The Stats tab compares the two teams card by card: goals, defence, xG, shots, corners, cards and more. Analysis scope sets which matches every card counts. Changing it is Pro; without Pro the tab shows the match’s default.

The Stats tab with Analysis scope open: Period, Side, Comp and Match
Tap Stats (1), then Analysis scope (2). Period (3) sets how many matches count, from the last 3 to the whole season. Side (4) counts all matches, only home or only away matches, or H/A: the home team at home and the away team away. Comp and Match choose the competitions and the full match or one half. A changed setting is marked on the bar and on each card that uses it; Reset puts the match’s default back.
  5. Open a market tab

Each market has its own tab, here Over/Under. Below Odds & Probability come Goals Trends, Recent Matches and Odds Analysis. The market tabs are Pro.

The Over/Under tab: a percentage for each number of goals and the Over and Under percentages of one line
Tap Over/Under (1). Odds & Probability gives each number of goals a percentage, for the full match or one half (2). Tap a line (3) for its Over and Under percentages, with the fair odds worked out from them next to the actual odds.
  6. Jump through Intelligence

Intelligence puts the match’s whole report on one page: a preview, the markets, form and facts, the match context and the community’s view. The full report is Pro.

The Jump to section chips on the Intelligence tab, under the briefing
Tap Intelligence. Under the briefing, the chips (1) jump to each part: At a glance, Markets, Form & facts, Match context and Community. Tap Form & facts (2).
Statistical angles: the match’s numbers that stand out from the league average
Form & facts opens with Statistical angles (1): the numbers furthest from the league average this season. The label (2) says how far, not what will happen. Show all (3) opens every angle.
